01. Unbox
Everything in its right place
Before you start setting up, our Vice President of Technology Research & Development, Dr Jack Oclee-Brown, has two tips to share:
- Remember that sound has spatial qualities. It creates a virtual stage, so be sure to place your soundbar somewhere unobstructed.
- Keep it in front of you, roughly at ear level. When it comes to sound, first impressions really do count.
01. Unbox
Start unboxing your XIO by carefully opening the packaging. Included in your XIO packaging, you will find:
- Your soundbar
- Remote control
- 3 x AAA batteries
- HDMI cable
- Power cable
- Wall mounting template
- Wall mounting kit
- Printed materials (Quick Start Guide, warranty & safety information, and cleaning guide).
02. Setup

XIO can either be placed on a shelf or wall-mounted.
If you’re placing your soundbar on a shelf, simply connect your power cable between XIO and your outlet.
For instructions on wall-mounting XIO, watch our video here.
03. Connect

Connecting to power
Simply connect the power cable and HDMI cable to XIO, then connect the power cable to the power outlet. Set the power switch (IO) to the “I” (ON) position, then wait for about 30 seconds while XIO boosts up. During this process, you will notice the volume level indicators blinking sequentially.
04. Download The App
05. Get On Board
Connect XIO to WiFi
You’ll be able to set up XIO with or without a network connection. Please note that should you set up without one, XIO’s controls and functionality may be limited.
Once you’ve downloaded KEF Connect, check the WiFi icon on XIO. If it’s blinking white and amber alternately, it’s ready to be onboarded.
Getting started with iOS
Open your app, find XIO on your “Speakers Nearby” list, then follow the prompts. You’ll know you’re connected when the green tick appears next to it on your speaker list.
Getting started with Android
Open your app, then find XIO on the “Speakers Nearby” list and follow the prompts. Google Play users may find a few extra prompts. You’ll know you’re connected when the green tick appears next to it on your speaker list.
